As part of a broader precision agriculture initiative, the company sought to implement IoT-based irrigation management — starting with soil moisture monitoring and automated water pump control across the plantation.

Challenge

Deploying IoT sensors across a plantation of this scale without first verifying connectivity coverage risks expensive installation failures. Cellular coverage in rural Savannakhet is variable, and the plantation geometry — with long field boundaries and remote zones — creates dead spots that standard coverage assumptions miss. Reliable IoT deployment required knowing exactly where devices could communicate before any hardware was purchased or installed.

Approach

Sensornode conducted a thorough LoRaWAN Coverage Survey across the Mitr Lao Sugar plantation.
